About Me

Yes, that is really my name. (I get that question a lot) I am a portrait photographer living in the beautiful Sonoran Desert, near Phoenix, AZ. I studied photography at Oklahoma State University and graduated with a Associates Degree in Applied Science with a Major in Photography. (Quite a mouthful isn't it?) In college I learned a lot about lighting and posing and editing, but the people skills that are now my favorite part of working in this business came from years and years of practice.

Why photography?

I have wanted to be a photographer for almost as long as I can remember. (Somewhere back in elementary school I wanted to be a vet or an illustrator. I still enjoy sketching, but working with animals is limited to my family's pets.) Going to college to learn how to photograph people, how to pose them, how to edit, seemed a perfectly natural path for me.

Why moms?

A large part of the photos I showcase on my website feature mothers and their families. The reason for that is pretty straightforward, I think. I am a mother too and that part of life is very dear to me and something I understand well.

I also occasionally venture into photojournalism or nature photography, I've done business headshots and branding, but capturing motherhood feels more natural, much like getting into photography in the first place felt.

Am I a safe person?

I know many people have made negative experiences. When I was working freelance for a bigger company, I once had a mother make a request for a photographer who wouldn't shame her child who was nonbinary. The fact that she felt the need to make such a specific request broke my heart, but I understand why she did it.

Please know, I will not judge you because of your identity, your name, the color of your skin, or the person you love. I am a safe space for your family.
